Universal Thread at Target

You may have noticed that Target has been amping up on their clothing with new brands such as Knox Rose, A New Day, and Who What Wear. These lines are so cute and most importantly affordable which is always a plus! Recently while looking through Target.com, I discovered a new clothing line coming Spring 2018, Universal Thread. Within first glances, my mind directly thought 'OMG IT'S LIKE  MADEWELL FOR TARGET!!!' and I'm loving it all! The line consists of trendy denim, classic denim skirts, signature staples and even cuter accessories and shoes. It really is such a fun line and I can't wait to get my hands on some pieces.

Be sure to check out Universal Thread at Target on Februray 2!  Also be sure to check out your local Target to see if there are a few pieces hitting the racks early (mine did! Sadly I couldn't find anything in my size but everything I saw was so cute!).

My Everyday Jewelry

Hi friends! Over the last year or so I found myself getting more and more into beautiful, statement jewelry. Although it may be fun to wear these pieces, it's equally important to have a concrete, everyday jewely collection currated with easy going and simple jewelry pieces that you can wear daily. Now, I'm talking about the ever so dainty necklaces and simple studs. Here's my everyday jewelry collection. I hope you enjoy!

P.S. I MADE A YOUTUBE CHANNEL!!!SAY WHATTTT?!?!  Yeah, I now have a YouTube channel! Here's a link to my channel (please subsrcibe!it would mean the world!) and here's a little video I made to go along this post!

Weekly Rundown No. 31

Happy Friday! This week has been so busy filled with multiple assignments and readings but I'm really happy to be back on campus and learning new things.  I've also been brainstorming posts for the blog and trying to take me photos for insta which is always fun!

I heard about this app earlier this week and I'm tempted to try it out! Anyone else heard of it? It's basically tinder for girls and you get to meet fun girl friends!

I've gotten so into watercoloring and I absolutely love it! I'm thinking of buying these so I can get a nice stroke when doing watercolor calligraphy

This Spring semester is now in full swing! I'm loving being back on campus!

This sweater looks like it'll be the perfect sweater to throw on and go

I just finished up watching Manolo: The Boy who Made Shoes for Lizards on Netflix and it was so good. I love watching these informative fashion documentaries!

Have a fun filled weekend!

5 ~fun~ Instagrams you Should Follow

It's no secret that social media is EVERYTHING. I see it as a first impression, meaning it reflects whoever's behind the screenname. Some people use it for job/business purpose and others just for fun! I'm kinda in the middle, I use my insta from my blog but I try not to focus on too much business stuff. Here are 5 Instagrams you should follow:

Adeline's feed is GORGEOUS! I discovered this Instagram from a youtube video (I can't remember which!) and I've been following ever since. Behind the 'gram, Adeline is a food stylist and let me tell you, she makes toast look too pretty to even eat! By using pure ingredients, Adeline creates vibrant dishes!

Follow my favorite fashionista Carly! Her Instagram defines Instagram goals. Carly's wardrobe includes various hues of grey, black, and white and easily translates into her Instagram theme. I've been following Carly for so long (when themes didn't matter!!) and I continue to follow her today! Her style is so chic and effortless, she really is style goals!

Blogger besties, Casey and Savannah, have created the cutest insta. Their feed is full of beautiful content. They blog over at heywanderer.com and cover a variety of topics including recipes, style, and travel.

If you are in college and love fashion, CFashionista is an instant follow. College Fashionista thrives on being a worldwide fashion community for our generation. Whether you are a fashion editor, photographer, writer or influencer you are bound to find a place within this community. On collegefashionista.com there are so many good articles written by young people.

A few weeks ago I came across this fun instapage filled with beautiful fashion illustrations. Low and behold this amazing artist is from Houston! Rongrong creates these fun pieces. I just love this one! I also enjoy watching the behind the scenes videos of a particular piece. Anyone else wishes they were artistic?!?
There are so many amazing creators and through social media I'm being aware how big this blogging and business world needs social media. I absolutely love finding new and amazing content  creators and these are a few people I've enjoyed following over the last weeks, months, and even years!

Thanks for Reading!

Weekly Rundown No. 30

This semester I will...

For all my college babes out there do you ever feel like every semester comes and goes and you still haven't done what you wanted to accomplish? For instance, I've always been shy and too scared to join clubs or even talk to other people in class. Sometimes when I really think about this, I always feel like I'm alone and no one will get where I'm coming from. Sometimes I don't even know if this all makes sense.

One thing I vowed to myself when I started blogging was to be 100% authentic and real, never post just the good, but also the in-between and the bad. And sometimes I feel like my problems aren't worthy of sharing, so naturally, I'll keep them locked inside my head and refuse to talk about them. But this 'method' isn't the best.

Back in November, I started writing and listing all the things I want to accomplish this year and semester. I called it my 'I will' list, I'm not sure that this is a real thing, but I made it real for me. I'll be sharing my list with you today and a bit of background for some of them.

  • JOIN A CLUB / ORGANIZATION  - Ever since I started coming to UH I've always wanted to be apart of a group. When I'd walk on campus, I would see the sorority girls and either friend groups or clubs and you can just tell that they were involved in some sort of campus involvement.  So naturally, I'm challenging my shy/awkward self to join at least ONE club or organization.

  • BRANCH OUT - Let's be honest, I'm not the most outgoing person.  My first semester at university, I made a small friend group with some nice girls. It's been fun having a quaint group of friends, and it reminds me of me in high school. This semester I want to branch out. Make a few friends here and there in all of my classes. I think it'll be good to have various relationships with classmates.
  •  FIND THE PERFECT CHILL / STUDY SPOT - My schedule for this semester is C.R.A.Z.Y. Monday I'll be in school from 10 A.M -8:30 P.M.  Like any sane person, I had to give myself a few breaks in between classes since it's gonna be such a long day, so I think I have one 2 hour break and one half hour break before my night class. So I'll be searching for the perfect spot to study and spend any free time I may have!

  •  VISIT MY ADVISOR MORE - TBH, I hate meeting with my advisor. I'll do whatever I can to avoid going to talk with my advisor. I honestly think the last time I talked to my advisor it was at the new transfer student orientation...3 years ago! So, of course, I'm sure it's time to visit my advisor more.

  • STAY ORGANIZED WITH NOTES/ CLASSWORK - I'm not the most organized person when it comes to taking notes and storing class handouts. Most of my handwritten notes look crazy and last semester I completely gave up on trying to take notes in one class because I was too annoyed with my 'technique'. So this semester, I really want to work on notetaking and just staying organized. I've already started a new (clean and neat) method of taking notes!

Anyone else barely starting the spring 2018 semester?! I'm pretty pumped about it!

Thanks for Reading!

Reader Feedback

Hi friends! In this post I really want to hear back from y'all. Below is a reader feedback form and along with a few questions from my insta stories (@thelonestardarling) I want to know what kind of posts you want to read on the blog.  It'll only take a few seconds to fill out the form and every answer really helps me to plan out what type of content to publish. It means everything with the support of you all and I love blogging, so if I can exactly know what you want to read on here, it helps me out a bunch!

Down here in Texas it has been in the 20s and It couldn't be any more perfect for the holiday season, I'm just sad to see it go. Well, enough with my ramblings, let's get the Weekly Rundown!

Dear 2018,

Happy New Year y'all! If you hadn't noticed I took a few days off to spend the new year with my family and I really enjoyed it! I spent NYE with my family and cousins, playing games and snacking on chips and queso!

Since this is the first post of 2018, I thought it would be fitting to share a few goals that I want to achieve in the new year.

1. GET MY LICENSE  - I'm always embarrassed when I tell people that I don't drive. I have my learners permit and I know how to, but I get so anxious and nervous when I get behind the wheel and it freaks me out. In 2018 I am going to get my drivers license despite my 'phobia'.

2. MAKE DEAN'S LIST - Spring  2017, I made dean's list and unfortunately I was just 2 points shy of making the list for fall 2017, so my school goal is to make deans list again this year!

3. BE OUTGOING - If you really know me, you know that I'd rather stay at home and just watch Netflix with my sisters. Well in 2018 I want to go out more, be open to going to new places!

4. OPEN TO RELATIONSHIPS - this goes hand in hand with being outgoing, this year I really want to make the most of my relationships. I also want to be open to new relationships and welcome new friends that are put in my path.

5. ATTEND BLOGGER EVENTS - This one is really specific to the Houston blogger circle and this year I want to attend as many blogger events as I can! I'd love to meet the women behind blogs that I follow!

6. TRAVEL -  I feel like I say this every year, but I'd love to travel within Texas and of course, the rest of the U.S. One place I would love to get to this year is New York.

7. BE HAPPY - Getting on a personal note, 2017 was a mix of emotions for me.  I experienced wild ups and downs and for a moment it was scary. I would be fine one moment and the next was the total opposite. In 2018 I want to do more things that make me happy and focus on my happiness rather than things that may upset me.

8. BE PROUD - You may have noticed in the past few weeks I've been asking of Instagram polls whether or not bloggers had two separate Instagrams (one blog, one personal). For the past year, my sisters knew about my blog and no one else. I love my blog and am proud of everything blog-wise, but at the same time, I didn't want anyone to know because I didn't want people to think that it was weird or silly that I had a blog. Well, not anymore 🙅 this year I want to be open and proud of what I've accomplished!

I cannot thank you enough for the past year and I cannot wait to see what's in store for The Lonestar Darling in 2018!
